If this doesn’t say “Amsterdam”, nothing will. Most of Amsterdam was claimed from the sea, and most of these buildings still have millennia-old wood beams that were rammed into the ground as foundation. If the water level in the canals sinks just a few inches, the wood is exposed to air, starts rotting, and the buildings sink away.
